‘the climate’ was hot today it seems

Going through my usual news flow yesterday morning I found that one topic was ‘hotter’ than other; the climate. Sure it’s been an issue for quite some time now but three somewhat major articles in the ‘top news section’ at BBC and CNN is more than usual; at least I think so.

Have a read, just follow the links.

1) Climate ‘grave’ security threat
Climate change poses “an immediate, growing and grave threat” to health and security around the world, according to an expert conference in London.

2) Climate change shrinking species, study warns

Climate change is shrinking many plant and animal species and is likely to have a negative impact on human nutrition in the future, according to a new study.

3) With 7 billion on earth, a huge task before us

Just 12 years after the arrival of the 6 billionth individual on the planet in 1999, humanity will greet the 7 billionth arrival this month. The world population continues its rapid ascent, with roughly 75 million more births than deaths each year. The consequences of a world crowded with 7 billion people are enormous. And unless the world population stabilizes during the 21st century, the consequences for humanity could be grim.
