The event was opened by Regional Director Åsa Thomasson and followed by a speech on the democratic situation in Cambodia by Executive Director of the Committee for free and fair elections (Comfrel) Mr. Koul Panha who recently received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his and Comfrel’s work in Cambodia. Thereafter the short film Female Politics by young filmmaker Chum Sophea was screened together with the newly produced video clip CSO voices on the draft NGO Law by the Cooperation Committee of Cambodia (CCC). Present was also Executive Director of CCC, Mr. Lun Borithy, to comment on the video clips, share information and answer questions about CCC’s present and future work with the NGO law.
After the screening and speeches all participants enjoyed a warm evening on Meta House’s rooftop with locally flavored finger food. Forum Syd think it was a successful night and thank all participants and speakers for taking part in celebrating the International Democracy Day 2011.
