Ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand is scheduled to visit Cambodia this week. According to Cambodia’s prime minister Hun Sen he’ll attend a regional economic forum, give a lecture and golf. His visit is just after Thailand’s current prime minister, also Thaksin’s sister, visited to Cambodia last Thursday.
Thaksin was ousted in a coup in 2006 and is wanted in Thailand for charges on corruption and his close relation to Cambodia was a clear issue to the former Thai government, leading to diplomatic friction in 2008 and 2009.
